The melomakarono (plural: μελομακάρονα), or “finikia”, comes from the word meli (honey) and macaroni (noodle-shaped). There are several varieties of melomakarona when it comes to flavor and texture, but Ambro-Sia’s melomakarona consist of a mixture of oil and butter accompanied with fresh ingredients, just the right flour, and a subtle aroma of orange and cognac. They are dipped in a honey-syrup with fresh flavors and topped with chopped walnuts and cinnamon. Storage & Serving Tips:
Shelf Life: Enjoy at room temperature in either this container or a glass container with a cover for two weeks.
Refrigerator: One month, bring to room temperature before serving.
Freezer: Store in an airtight container and place a paper napkin inside the container on top to absorb any moisture. Best: Two months.
Serving: Bring to room temperature.
To maintain the best texture and taste, do NOT store in a plastic container at room temperature because they will absorb moisture, but they will not spoil.
